Our Practice
Our professional practice was established for the North-East to provide an Osteoporosis Screening Service to the people of the region. We are currently in our ninth year of operation.
A Dexa Scan is the Gold Standard for diagnosing Osteoporosis. A scan of your Spine and Hip areas are highly recommended. These areas as well as the wrist are the most frequently fractured areas.
Here in our Dexa Osteopoosis Screening Clinic we scan the spine and hips.
We offer a highly professional service and our professional staff of qualified nurses are trained Bone Densitometry Technicians and have specialised training in Osteoporosis Management, Dexa scanning and Radiation Protection. The Training Scheme is UK accredited by The Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), The College of Radiographers (COR) and The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Dexa Protection is fully licensed by the Radiological Protection institute of Ireland and is in conformity with the expressed wishes of the Department of Health with regard to radiological protection and to ensure that the appropriate statutory requirements are met we are annually checked by the Radiation Protection Institute of Ireland.
A qualified Nurse is on hand to answer any queries you may have and will offer advice on lifestyle measures to maximise Bone Health. Recommendations are made to your doctor for any further investigations or treatment that may be necessary. The Scan results will then be forwarded to both you and your doctor, Your doctor will then, if required, offer you treatment and advice.
We analyse your risk factors and Dexa Scan and advise on any further investigations for underlying causes of Osteoporosis and any treatment that may be necessary to treat Osteopenia or Osteoporosis.
